Page 1 of 2 Standard Delivery vs. MailborderWhen a user sends an email, the server handling that email performs a DNS look up to see which server it should be delivered to in order to reach the recipient. That email is then delivered directly to the destination server from the originating server.
This model allows any email server in the world to connect to your email server and deliver email. Unfortunately, a very large number of email servers on the Internet do not have the best intentions and their primary purpose is to deliver spam, viruses, malware, and spyware along with a multitude of other attacks such as phishing and directory harvesting. To reduce the threat and server load, you can change the inbound path of your email to first be handled by the Mailborder servers. The Mailborder servers will process the email exactly as you specify in easy to configure policies and then deliver only the clean email to your email server. ![]()
This is done via your DNS settings on your name servers. The change is simple and only takes minutes by modifying the MX records for your domain. These changes are done on the server that handles DNS for your domain(s) and not at Mailborder. |
