![]() The technology behind Mailborder is simplistically powerful. The core systems are Linux-based servers that were built from the ground up and optimized for email processing. Mailborder is able to virtually eliminate spam and other junk email through a series of layers that provide a virtual defense in depth platform. The actual mailer daemon on each server has been tuned and optimized to be selective on what other entity it will accept mail from. In short, they are able to identify real mail servers from the spam and botnet entities. This feature is amazingly powerful as it actually prevents the majority of the junk from ever being delivered to our systems. The next layer is a virus detection platform that is not only updated hourly, but also extremely thorough and fast. It digs deep into emails and attachments going several layers deep when required and has proven to be a superior detection engine. The third layer is a spam and malicious content scanning engine second to none. It doesn’t stop at simple spam checks. It checks for malicious content, web bugs, scripts, phishing, numeric phishing, partial messages, external messages, IFrames, object codebase, and more. It also filters based on allowed or denied file types defined by you as well as processing white or black lists that are again defined by you. After an email is processed through each of these layers, it is then either quarantined, disarmed, deleted, or flagged based on your settings and then either stored or delivered. The system has very few false positives, but we have included a release feature in the web control panel that allows you to release and deliver false positives. Although our systems are amazingly reliable, we left nothing to chance and have provided all of our customers with triple redundancy. You just don’t get one mail server to process your email at Mailborder. You get three. We provide this triple redundancy for both your protection and to aid in the maintenance of our systems. If one of your Mailborder servers drops due to a failure or simply for maintenance, you will never know it because the other two will continue to process your email. The final two portions are detailed database logging and fallback. Each Mailborder server logs every transaction so that you can see exactly what is going on with your email in real time. Of course, no content from any email is ever logged. If you do have trouble with your email server or require the scheduling of your own maintenance, you will never lose a single email with Mailborder. Your primary Mailborder servers will try to deliver your email for a short period. If they are unable to do so, the email is transferred to a fallback server, which will hold all of your email for seven calendar days trying to contact your email server periodically. When your server comes back online, everything gets delivered like you were never offline. |
